| Spring Festival Celebrated in Confucius Institute of Bangladesh | ||||

On Feb 16 2008, a function was held in Confucius Institute of North South University (NSU) in Bangladesh to celebrate Chinese Spring Festival. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian, Cultural Counsellor Mr. Liu Sanzhen, Vice Chancellor of NSU, Mr. Siddiqi, Director of Confucius Institute, Mr. Elias attended the program.
In his speech, Ambassador Zheng said in the past year under the assistance of Bangladesh NSU and Chinese Yunan University, Confucius Institute made remarkable achievement in Chinese language teaching. He hopes that through the platform of Confucius Institute, more Bangladesh youth will start learning Chinese, knowing more about China and involving themselves in the cause of promoting friendly bilateral ties.
Vice Chancellor of NSU, Mr. Siddiqi expressed gratitude for the continuous support from Chinese Embassy. He said that Chinese language serves as a bridge to know more about China and conduct exchange and cooperation with China. The learners in Confucius Institute are expected to make full use of the facilities to prepare themselves for making contributions to further development of friendship between the two countries.
Decorated with red lanterns, Chinese Knots, Golden Characters, artificial firecrackers, pictures of Beijing 2008 Olympics and Chinese technology achievements, the function was imbued with distinctive Chinese features. Students of Confucius Institute performed songs of Ode to China-Bangladesh Friendship, Asian Wind, soloist Jasmine Flower, Huangmei Opera, Yangge Dance and Lion Dance, featuring an atmosphere of rejoicing and festivity. |
