On 25th September 2007 at the invitation of Lieutenant General Abu Tayed Muhammad Zahirul Alam, rcds, psc, Commandant of Bangladesh National Defence College (BNDC), Chinese Ambassador H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian made a speech to the students of BNDC entitled "Enhance Unity and Cooperation to Build a Harmonious World --- China's Foreign Policy".

                                

    Ambassador Zheng expounded on Chinese foreign policy, China-South Asia relationship and China-Bangladesh relationship with emphasis on sharing experience with all other developing countries including Bangladesh to realize mutual prosperity and development in its process of striving for the country's progress, people's well-off and social harmony. Ambassador Zheng expressed that China and Bangladesh are close neighboring countries and it is the unswerving policy of Chinese government to incessantly develop and deepen the traditional friendship between China and Bangladesh. China would like to enhance the comprehensive partnership of cooperation between the two countries with joint efforts from Bangladeshi side.

                        

                        

    Lieutenant General Alam appreciated Ambassador Zheng's speech, speaking highly of China's pursuit of independent foreign policy of peace and applauding the remarkable achievement made by the Chinese government since the adoption of the opening-up policy. He said China and Bangladesh enjoy a time-honored friendship and Bangladesh would spare no efforts to promote China-Bangladesh cooperation to a new level with the concerted efforts from China.
