Chinese Ambassador Mr. Zheng Qingdian Handing over Relief Fund From Chinese Non-governmental Organizations to Bangladeshi Side

 

      On August 9, Chinese Ambassador H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian called on Acting Foreign Secretary H. E. Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain to hand over the relief fund from some Chinese Non-governmental organizations for disastrous flood affected people in Bangladesh. Ambassador Zheng expressed that Chinese government and people are highly concerned about the situation of Bangladesh water disaster, and he'd like to convey their deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the victims and bereaved families. It is really admirable for the Bangladeshi government and people to courageously fight against the disaster and actively carry out the relief work with great determination and confidence. Chinese people firmly believed that with concerted efforts, Bangladeshis can surely conquer the current difficulties. As sincere friends of Bangladesh, Chinese people would like to offer all necessary assistance for relief and rehabilitation. Ambassador Zheng handed over $30,000 emergency relief fund from China Red Cross for Bangladesh Red Crescent Societies to Mr. Touhid. He also noted that All-China Women's Federation had decided to offer 400,000 RMB ($50,000) worth of relief material to Bangladeshi flood affected areas, and hoped Bangladeshi side could make arrangement at the earliest convenience for the transference of the relief material.

      Mr. Touhid expressed gratitude to Chinese government and people for their concern and help offered to Bangladeshis. China is a great close neighbor and friend of Bangladesh, and would always be ready to help whenever Bangladesh is in a plight. Under the help and support of China and the international community, Bangladeshi people would surely overcome the difficulties and restore their life and production.
