On July 15, a there-member delegation led by Chairman of China Anhui Yuan Agriculture Development Co., Ltd, Mr. Yuan Dingan paid a visit to Hon'ble Adviser of agriculture, Dr. Chowdhury Sajjadul Karim, and exchanged views with Bangladeshi officials in relation to carrying out, promoting and offering technical cooperation of hybrid rice technology. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Mr. Zheng Qingdian, Secretary of Ministry of Fishery, Mr. Rahman attended the meeting.

    Mr. Yuan Dingan firstly conveyed his father, Chinese famous scientist and academician Mr. Yuan Longping's sincere greeting to Mr. Karim, and then elaborated the implementation of hybrid rice technology and cooperation made by his company. Mr. Yuan expressed that supported by Chinese hybrid rice Engineering Technology Research Center, his company is ready to continue developing new variety of hybrid rice technology geared to Bangladeshi agricultural conditions and the need of its market. The Chinese side is considering to establish hybrid rice technology R&D center in Bangladesh, and hoping the Bangladeshi side will offer help.

    Hon'ble Adviser, Mr. Karim indicated that agriculture is the fundamental sector of Bangladesh, and to realize self-sufficiency and meet the demand of people's food and clothing is the top priority of the Bangladeshi government. China is largely a agriculture-dependent country, and a agricultural power with a long history of agricultural development and remarkable achievements. The hybrid rice technology is a great invention for the welfare of the whole world. Bangladesh attaches great importance to the development and promotion of hybrid rice technology and welcomes competitive and reputable Chinese enterprises to develop business in Bangladesh and cooperate with Bangladeshi counterparts. The Bangladeshi government is happy to support the idea of establishing hybrid rice technology R&D center in Bangladesh, and can be counted on all necessary assistance in this regard.
