On July 3, 2007, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh H. E. Mr. Zheng Qingdian paid a courtesy call on Hon'ble Adviser of Communications of Caretaker Government,H.E. Maj.Gen.(Rtd.)M.A. Matin. The two exchanged views concerning bilateral cooperation of communications.

    Ambassador Zheng expressed that China and Bangladesh are two friendly neighboring countries, with comprehensive and close exchange and cooperation. The Chinese side has been supporting and participating in the construction of Bangladeshi infrastructure, and has built 5 friendship bridges successively, and the 6th friendship bridge is soon to be completed, which will hopefully improve the local economy and better people's life. The Chinese companies have working in the fields of constructing Bangladeshi ports, roads and bridges for many years. With rich experience and good reputation, they hope to participate in the construction of Bangladeshi infrastructure with more investment and in more flexible ways, and expect continuous support and cooperation from Bangladeshi side.

    Adviser Maj.Gen.(Rtd.)M.A. Matin thanks Chinese government for its years of sincere help to Bangladesh in the field of communications. The six bridges built under the help of Chinese side play a significant role in improving the local people's life, and have become a token of China-Bangladesh friendship. He appraised positively the qualification and professionalism of Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh, and welcomed Chinese enterprises to continue participating in the construction and development of Bangladeshi communications.
